As the Senior Manager, Benefits you will lead a team focused on delivering market competitive, culturally relevant and comprehensive benefits and perks to support the overall well-being of our employees. Within our Global Compensation & Benefits team, you’ll lead the design, strategic vision and execution of our benefit programs in the US, Netherlands, Germany and other emerging markets where we might expand to. You’ll work with your counterparts in Compensation, Employee Experience, Employer Brand and Talent to ensure that our global benefits program aligns with 1Password’s Total Rewards strategy and appeals to employees and candidates alike.
This role reports to the Director, Compensation & Benefits.
This is a remote opportunity within the US.
What we're looking for:
Proven experience with designing global benefits packages and leading multiple benefits renewals and open enrollments periods in the US and Europe.
Minimum of 7 (10 preferable) years of experience in US benefits administration, and at least 2 years (5 preferable) in a supervisory or managerial role.
Ability to balance multiple priorities with minimal guidance.
Innovation and thinking with a digital mindset.
Strong analytical and organizational skills. Experience with google-suite (sheets, slides).
Proven ability to manage projects effectively, from planning to execution.
Experience in vendor relationship management, broker management and related RFP process, leave of absence administration & management and administering retirement plans (401K, Pension, and RRSP), managing budgets related to benefit plans, experience providing benefit reporting to Finance and understanding headcount impact for forecasting related expenses.. Experience building and designing international benefit plans.
Collaboration with other teams – HRIS, Payroll, HRBPs, Finance, Legal, etc.
Knowledge of global benefits regulations and compliance requirements.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced scaling company.
Bonus points for:
Experience working with UKG Benefits Prime.
Experience with US and international payroll and pension/retirement plans.
Experience with mergers & acquisitions.
What you can expect:
Benefit Design & Administration:
Lead the design and strategic vision of US , Netherlands, and Germany Benefits and any other emerging market where we might expand into.
Analyze and monitor benefits and leave program costs, utilization trends, and program effectiveness. Recommend and implement changes to optimize value and control costs while maintaining a high level of employee satisfaction.
Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of benefits, leaves, and accommodation programs, leveraging employee feedback and market data to make improvements that drive engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Ensure compliance with all relevant local regulations for US & Netherlands.
Oversee the administration of leave programs in the US (e.g.,parental leave, disability leave) and ensure compliance with U.S. state and federal leave laws. Develop and manage the company's accommodations program in compliance with the regulatory requirements & ensuring fair and consistent practices for all employees needing accommodations.
Communications and Influence:
Develop communication strategies to educate employees about their benefits, leaves, accommodations, and wellness programs. Work with internal teams to ensure clear, consistent, and engaging messaging.
Collaborate closely with HR, legal, and finance teams to ensure benefits and leave policies are integrated with other total rewards initiatives.
File Integration, Data Integrity and Audits:
Oversee the integration of US benefits data across multiple systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and security.
Collaborate with HRIS, payroll and other stakeholders to identify system requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize data flow and accessibility.
Oversee regular data audits for the US & Netherlands to ensure benefit data integrity. Identify and implement controls and validation measures to ensuring data integrity.
Project Management (ad hoc company wide benefits projects)
Lead and coordinate various benefits-related projects, such as operational set up for US Netherlands, and German enrollment, vendor, plan and/or system implementations, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget and quality standards.
Develop project plans, establish milestones, allocate resources, and monitor progress to achieve project objectives effectively.
Vendor and Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, such as insurance carriers, benefit providers, and third-party administrators.
Collaborate with vendors to ensure effective service delivery, resolve issues promptly, and optimize the value of benefits offerings.
Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and monitor contract terms and performance agreements as needed.
Develop strong partnerships through ongoing and timely collaboration with internal stakeholders such as HRIS, payroll, HRBP’s, IT, Finance, Legal and other business leaders.
Team Leadership:
Provide guidance, support, and ongoing training to the benefits team to ensure high performance for benefits operations.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $149,000 USD and $201,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
